Customer service points or Kiosk acts as the authorized representatives of various government, private and corporate banks, in the far flung areas of the country with low and scattered population.
These CSP centers are operated by business correspondents of banks and are responsible for carrying out day to day banking activities like account opening, cash depositing, cash withdrawal, money transfer, aadhar seeding, account verification and much more to meet the banking requirements of citizens residing in the nearby vicinities.
The major roles and responsibilities of Customer service point are as follow:
- Meeting the banking requirements of citizen
CSPs were started by the RBI bank in association with the government; with a mere goal to provide banking infrastructure in the rural, scattered and unbanked areas of the country.
Thus, a CSP is expected to play the role of a mini bank and provide its customers all the basic banking facilities like account opening, cash depositing/ withdrawal, money remittance, opening a fixed deposit account etc.
- Financial inclusions
Customer service point or Kiosk outlet plays a very crucial role in helping the government allocated funds to reach its rightful owner across the country.
Government of India, announces various funds for different sections of societies. CSP acts as a middle man here and distributes these funds to the rightful owner.
- Social security schemes
Government of India has authorized customer service point to offer various schemes like Atal Pension Yojna (APY), Pradhanmantri Suraksha Yojna Bima (PMSBY), Pradhan mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY) etc. to secure the future of citizens residing in the area.
These schemes are framed for the citizen’s of rural areas only. CSP’s are responsible to guide and inform the citizens about the features, benefits and costing for each of this scheme and should enroll them as per the scheme’s criteria and their willingness to join.
- Financial Literacy camps
CSP’s should conduct financial literacy camps across various villages to explain the importance of various schemes and to demonstrate on how to manage and handle their savings which can give them a secure and a better future.
Also educating people on financial literacy will bring more transactions to the CSP which will result in improved monthly commission for the CSP center.
CSP’s play a very crucial role in bridging the gap of financial needs and cash dispersal in rural, scattered and flung areas of the cities which are yet to be equipped with banking infrastructure.
